Georgetown Global Dialogues Student Fellows Program

How do we move forward in a divided world? Since its launch in April 2024 the Georgetown Global Dialogues (GGD) has brought leading intellectuals from the Global South into conversation with Georgetown faculty and students around this core question.

From March 28-30, 2026, the GGD Student Fellows Program will convene twelve Georgetown University undergraduates for the Georgetown Global Dialogues in Doha, Qatar—six traveling from Washington, DC, and six participating locally from Georgetown University in Qatar.

This is the fourth installment of the Georgetown Global Dialogues. GGD was launched in Washington, DC (May 2024) and has since convened in Rome (June 2025) and Barcelona (November 2025). GGD pursues four interrelated goals: Learning from the Global South; Advancing a Global Vision of Human Equality; Elevating Youth Perspectives on Global Challenges, and Building a Culture of Encounter.

Program Details

During the spring 2026 semester, GGD student fellows will:

  • Participate in the Georgetown Global Dialogues in Qatar (March 28-30). DC-based fellows will arrive in Qatar on March 27 and depart on March 31. All program costs will be covered (flights, ground transportation, lodging, and group meals).
  • Attend two one-hour orientation sessions and participate in two one-hour Zoom dialogues with Georgetown Global Dialogues Fellows (February-March).
  • Publish essays in the GGD Forum (February-March).
  • Write a reflection on their experience in Doha for publication (April).

Eligibility: All Georgetown undergraduates are eligible to apply.

Application Process: The application consists of a short statement of interest (200 words), a resume or CV, a 300-500 word essay on one of two prompts (listed below), and the name of one reference (a Georgetown faculty member or administrator), to be submitted through the Google Form. Please provide a title for your essay.

Selection Criteria: Applicants should have strong academic backgrounds and a demonstrated interest in the ethical and policy dimensions of global challenges. Preference will be given to first- and second-year students. A committee that includes faculty will select the fellows. All applicants' essays will be reviewed for potential publication on the GGD Forum.

Timeline: The application opens on Thursday, January 15 and closes at noon Monday, January 26. Finalist interviews will begin the week of February 2 and fellows will be announced Friday, February 13.

Fellows will be responsible for requesting permission from all their instructors to excuse any absences and make up any coursework. Only those who receive faculty approval will be able to participate.

Prompts

Prompt 1: Existential threats crowd the global horizon, from climate disaster and pandemics to runaway AI and nuclear annihilation. How do you assess these dangers? How can and should the international community work together to address one or more of them?

Prompt 2: Young people are inheriting a world marked by war, social inequality, democratic instability, climate crisis, and technological upheaval. What unique perspectives do they bring to bear on global challenges? How can and should their voices and impact be elevated?
