
Yásnaya Elena A. Gil
Yásnaya Elena A. Gil is a writer, linguist, and researcher specializing in linguistic diversity and a leading voice in Indigenous thinking and the defense of language rights in Latin America. She is a founder of Colmix (Colectivo Mixe), devoted to the research, dissemination, and teaching of the Mixe language, thought, and history, and has been coordinator of the Juan de Córdova Research Library in Oaxaca. Her books include Ää. Manifiestos sobre la diversidad lingüística (2023) and Un nosaltres sense estat (2025/2018); she has contributed to publications such as Extractivismo, El árbol de la palabra (2023), Volver a contar (2021), Letras Libres, and Nexos. She writes regularly for El País.
