Vladimir Safatle

Vladimir Safatle is a professor and director of research in the Department of Philosophy and the Institute of Psychology at the Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. His work explores issues at the intersection of psychology, culture, and politics. He is the author of Grand Hotel Abyss: Desire, Recognition and the Restoration of the Subject (2016), with Alphabet of Collisions: Practical Philosophy for a Chronic Condition forthcoming with Columbia University Press. Safatle translated Theodor Adorno’s complete works into Portuguese, has taught internationally, including as a visiting professor at the Université de Paris VII, and writes a regular column for El País.
